ZoneAlarm can be configured to automatically to put “all” new networks in the Internet Zone but if you then connect to a private network and needed to share files or access network servers or printers, you would need to manually change the Network Zone to Trusted for that particular network.

To change this setting, open ZoneAlarm and click Firewall on the left and click the Advanced button on the bottom right. In the “Network Settings” area, choose “Exclude networks from the Trusted Zone upon detection.” Click OK and then close the main ZoneAlarm window.

If in the future you needed to put a network into the Trusted Zone, you would need to click Firewall on the left and then Zones and find the network you wanted to Trust. Right click the network and choose Edit. Select “Trusted Zone” and click OK and then click Apply on the main ZoneAlarm Window. You may need to restart your computer for the Windows networking to work correctly.
