Some users of older versions of ZoneAlarm have been seeing an error message stating "Validation failed, you may be missing a necessary root certificate" for either of the following two files: "C:\Windows\system32\vsinit.dll" or "C:\Windows\system32\vsdata.dll". This problem is relating to ZoneAlarm versions 6.5 and below ONLY.

ZoneAlarm versions 6.5 or below have not been supported for some time now and are no longer functioning. You will need to uninstall this version of ZoneAlarm and "if" you are using Windows XP or Vista, you can download and install the newest version of ZoneAlarm available here:
http://www.zonealarm.com.au/main/updates.htm

Windows 2000 users, please see here:

NOTE: If you are unable to uninstall ZoneAlarm, please download, save and run the following ZoneAlarm full removal tool:
http://www.zonealarm.com.au/special_tools/ZA_UNIST.exe
Please ignore any error messages when running the tool, as the tool will complete the removal process automatically after the computer is restarted. If you are using Windows Vista, you will see a Windows permission prompt after restarting the computer relating to the CheckPoint ZoneAlarm removal tool. Please click "Allow" to complete the removal process.
